Calva, Patillas Open SE Strong with 6-3 Win

The Patillas Cuervos powered past the visiting Rio Grande Cotorras, 6-3, in the opener of the Serie Eliminatoria at Campo Atletico de San Benito. Patillas starting pitcher René Calva threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Cuervos now lead the series 1-0.
Calva allowed 3 runs over 8 innings. He also racked up 7 strikeouts.
"René did a really nice job of taking the ball and giving us a chance to win the game," said Patillas manager Jonás López.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Campo Atletico de San Benito in Patillas.
