The Mayaguez Capitanes coasted to a win over the Caguas Coquis, 11-2. Curro Orozco had a good day at the plate for Mayaguez. He went 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. The second-place Capitanes are now 41-27, the Coquis 26-38.
Early in the game, right fielder William Jepson had a bases-clearing triple for Mayaguez. It was his 5th triple of the season and put the Capitanes on top, 3-0.
"This team is on a mission," said Jepson, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
