Corceles Handle Hormigueros, Snag 4-3 Win
|
The Santa Isabel Corceles topped the Hormigueros Romeros, 4-3, in Liga Betances action at Estadio Nuevo de Santa Isabel. The standout performance belonged to Santa Isabel pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Juan Leyva. Picking up the save was 29-year old left-handed pitcher Álvaro Nevárez. Santa Isabel's record now stands at 33-36, placing them second in the Liga Betances Metro Sur.
Santa Isabel right fielder Jairo Ramírez helped the cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, Ramírez went 1-4.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Leyva told the Santa Isabel Gazette. "You win just by scoring more runs."
