Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Cabo Rojo Combatientes and Hatillo Canarios.
Hatillo got a terrific game from center fielder Guillermo Loredo. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cabo Rojo, 9-4. Loredo went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Elián Morales, the winning pitcher, is now 12-6. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 2.
Federico Argüello chipped in a 3-run home run for Cabo Rojo in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Argüello.
The first-place Combatientes now have a record of 42-31.
