Yauco got a big-time effort from pitcher Mallon Nelson, but it wasn't enough to keep the Canovanas Chupacabras from winning the game, 4-2. Nelson threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. The Corsos, at 30-44, have lost 4 straight games.
The Chupacabras got a big boost from first baseman Rafael Camacho who had a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first inning off Corsos hurler Mallon Nelson. It was his 17th RBI of the season and put Canovanas on top, 2-1.
"You never take a win for granted in this league," said Camacho.
