Arecibo's Seosamh Blake got the standing ovation -- but the Las Marias Citricos got the win.

It was a special day for him at Estadio Municipal de Arecibo. A day when Blake notched hit #1000 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Citricos fans applauded.

The Lobos shortstop went 4-for-4 in a losing cause as Las Marias spoiled the party with the 9-7 victory.

In the postgame interview, a downhearted Blake told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."

When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 1000-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."

Blake has hit for a .232 career average and totaled 1000 hits, 6 home runs and 377 RBIs.
