Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Utuado Arribenos and Barceloneta Marineros.
Jaime de Jesús knocked in 4 runs to help Utuado beat Barceloneta, 11-1. The Bayamón, Puerto Rico native tallied 2 singles and 1 home run. Plácido Polanco got the win, improving to 9-6. He worked 8.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4.
In the bottom of the first, de Jesús had one of his most important at-bats: a run-scoring single off Keegan Daly that staked the Arribenos to a 1-0 lead.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Utuado manager Louis Gutteridge.
Their 52-29 record puts the Arribenos first in the Liga Hostos Cordillera Oeste.
