Gilley Humbles New York, 3-0
|
In an excellent mound performance, Matt Gilley of the Pittsburgh Pirates blanked the New York Giants, 3-0, on a 5-hitter.
"I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches," he said after the game.
In all, the Pittsburgh hurler rang up 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout win.
"We just didn't swing the bats well today," said Giants manager Graham Haddon. "Gilley did a good job keeping us guessing."
Up to now Gilley has compiled an ERA of 1.26 with a 8-3 mark over 14 starts. He has 43 strikeouts in 107.1 innings and has held opponents to a .222 batting average.
