In a low-scoring contest between the Mayaguez Capitanes and the Rincon Ingenieros, Fausto Souza was the X factor. The Mayaguez right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The win went to Charlie Leighton in relief, making him now 3-3. Pascual García took the loss for Rincon. The Capitanes saw their win-loss record go to 48-39. At the same time, the Ingenieros fell to 41-47.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, 26-year old first baseman Darren Lynch won it for Mayaguez. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Lynch hit a 0-1 changeup from Pascual García for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Lynch said.
