The Penuelas Guiristas rode a solid performance from 28-year-old starting pitcher Gustavo Dávalos to a win, beating the Cabo Rojo Combatientes, 3-1, at Coliseo Armando Vargas. Dávalos got the win, improving to 13-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. He allowed 1 run. By defeating Cabo Rojo, the first-place Guiristas improved to 50-39.
Penuelas went up, 3-0, on Juan Carlos Díaz's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Díaz hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cabo Rojo pitcher Elián Morales shaking his head.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Díaz told the Penuelas Bulletin.
