Corsarios Fall to Senores Late
|
Ponce Senores starter Raimundo González pitched well against the Quebradillas Corsarios at La Guarida, leading his team to a win, 6-1. González, now 1-0, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 2, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Ponce, at 55-34, occupies first place in the Liga Hostos Metro Sur.
Ponce used the timely hitting of Heliodoro Chávez to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Senores on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Chávez called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
