Martilleros Lose Late to Cotorras
Raúl Alzate made an impact in the 8-6 Rio Grande win over Vega Alta. Alzate, who is a three-time All-Star, hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Reliever Ezequiel Vásquez picked up the win. His record improves to 12-8. Fructuoso Madrid took the loss. With the win, Rio Grande pushed its record to 54-38.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the tenth. With Rio Grande trailing 6-5, Alzate jumped on a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Fructuoso Madrid and hit a 3-run home run to left. With one swing, the Cotorras had a walk-off win.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Alzate.
