The Rincon Ingenieros snuck past the Ponce Senores, 3-2, in 10 innings. Rincon pitcher Pascual García, in particular, had a standout performance. The third-place Ingenieros are 44-51.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Rincon. That's when 25-year old center fielder José Medina hit a run-scoring double off Juan Vargas to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Rincon manager Noé Aguilar.
