Coliseo Atlético del Oeste was the site of a tense game between the Barranquitas Ilustres and Mayaguez Capitanes.

Hortensio Galicia never let Barranquitas get something going. The Mayaguez right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Capitanes to a 2-1 win. Mayaguez is now 55-41, Barranquitas 45-50.

With runs few and far between, the Capitanes had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Mayaguez came in the bottom of the fifth inning, when two-time Acutísimo winner Byron Wood delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Gerardo Martínez and made the score 2-0, Capitanes. Wood went 1 for 4.

"Banging out wins is what it's all about," said Galicia.
