Arzobispos Post 2-0 Win
|
The Aguada Arzobispos topped the Guaynabo Libertadores, 2-0, in Liga Betances action at Coliseo Jesús Carreón. The standout performance belonged to Aguada pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Nicodemo Ceja. Ceja yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-5. Pablo Silva earned the save for Aguada, his 15th.
Cosme Tejeda's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant, coming with a runner on 2nd and the game tied, 0-0. The Aguada center fielder hit a run-scoring single off Tony Renny to put the Arzobispos up.
Tejeda said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
At 56-43, the Arzobispos claim first place in the Liga Betances Noroeste.
