|
Víctor Hugo Velásquez never let Quebradillas get something going. The Yabucoa right-hander commanded his changeup in pitching the Dulceros to a 1-0 win. The winning pitcher was Velásquez, now 13-12. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Melchor Alvarado was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 21 save opportunities.
With two out in the top of the second, Santiago Rodríguez put Yabucoa in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Dulceros went on to win the ballgame.
"That's baseball," said Quebradillas manager Aimar Ruiz. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
The losing streak for Quebradillas has now reached 4 games.
