Palomas Fall Short at Yauco, 3-2
|
The Yauco Corsos and Cidra Palomas completed their game despite the rain.
The Yauco Corsos picked up a win at Coliseo Aldo Gallardo, topping the Cidra Palomas, 3-2. On the mound for Yauco was right-hander Tito Barrientos. He played a principal role in the triumph. Paulino Montes claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record stands at 5-3.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Herminio Argueta came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Cidra pitcher Cleto Jiménez, he hit a 1-0 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Yauco on top, 3-2.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Barrientos.
The Corsos sit in first place in the Liga Betances Sur with a record of 55-51.
