Trujillo Alto and Guanica got after it at Estadio Cordelia Pérez de Verdugo.
The Trujillo Alto Macabeos picked up a win at Estadio Cordelia Pérez de Verdugo, knocking off the Guanica Amigos, 5-2. On the mound for Trujillo Alto was right-hander Germán Bencosme. He played a key role in the triumph. Bencosme got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 8 hits and walked 1 over 8.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
The Macabeos benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the third. With Flannan Smith at bat and Trujillo Alto leading 3-2, the Guanica miscue allowed Trujillo Alto to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.
"I thought we played a nice game," Smith told the Trujillo Alto Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
With the win, Trujillo Alto boosts its record to 4-7.
