Chupacabras Earn Clutch Win, 4-3
|
Cirilo García, who finished 5th in the LH in innings pitched with 381.1 in 1909, pitched well, but the Aguada Arzobispos still fell short, losing, 4-3, to the Canovanas Chupacabras at Estadio Municipal de Aguada. Canovanas reliever Julián Rodríguez picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Cirilo García was tagged with the loss. At 33-75, Canovanas is in third place in the Liga Betances El Yunque.
Canovanas got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Hayuya Mozqueda. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Chupacabras ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Mozqueda told the Canovanas Today.
