Las Marias Stymied by González
It wasn't easy but the Rio Grande Cotorras made it look that way.

Starter Pedro González shut out the Las Marias Citricos despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Rio Grande Cotorras cruised to victory, 2-0. González allowed only 2 hits and rang up 7 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.

"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."

So far this year, González has made 28 starts, tossed 218.2 innings, struck out 63 batters and walked 90. His record is 11-10 with a 2.80 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .282 batting average.
