Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Metropolitanos
|
The San Juan Metropolitanos walked off with a big win.
The San Juan Metropolitanos took Guaynabo pitcher Tony Renny's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Estadio Capitolino. The final score had San Juan getting past the Libertadores, 3-2. Renny went 6 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 3. The first-place Metropolitanos are now 56-54, the Libertadores 50-61.
The Metropolitanos got a clutch hit from third baseman Javier Aguirre. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single to left, to win the game for the Metropolitanos.
"We were in it," said Guaynabo manager Billy Riley. "We just didn't score enough runs."
