Wilson Shines in 9-1 Isabela Win
|
The Isabela Quesiteros thumped the Barceloneta Marineros, 9-1, at Estadio Municipal de Isabela. Arnold Wilson was a big reason his team got the win. Wilson went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Rafael García, the winning pitcher, is now 20-5. He went 8.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits, while fanning 12 and walking 2. The first-place Quesiteros, at 82-37, lead the Liga Hostos Noroeste by 8 games.
With two out in the bottom of the first, Corcoran Howell put Isabela in front, 2-0, with a 2-run single. The Quesiteros went on to win the ballgame.
Quesiteros manager Senén Pérez had nothing but praise for his players after an impressive win, calling the result one of the team's best performances of the season. "Everything just came together on our end," he said. "I didn't need to do too much."
