The Juncos Valencianos overcame a good performance by Comerio first baseman Jacobo Zavala to knock off Comerio, 5-4, at Estadio Tomás Morel. Zavala went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Julián Orta, the winner, goes to 14-11. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout over 7.1 innings. Cayetano Rodríguez, who leads the LB in saves with 23, nailed down the save.
Juncos used the timely hitting of Ben Henderson to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Valencianos on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Abejundio Ceja. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
The Valencianos now own a record of 56-63.
