The Vega Alta Martilleros had to overcome a fine effort from Catano pitcher Juan Salazar to win, 5-4, at Estadio Getulio Moreno. Salazar went 6.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Kavan Neligan closed it out for his 6th save. The Martilleros raised their record to 49-75.

Vega Alta used the timely hitting of Matías Rodríguez to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Martilleros on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Rodríguez told the Vega Alta Observer.
