The skies opened up and the rain fell at Recinto Ramón Araujo.
Canovanas Chupacabras starter Álvaro Piedra turned a whale of an effort into a win over the Maunabo Artilleros. The final score was 6-1, Canovanas. Piedra yielded 1 run over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 8-20.
Hércules Rendón had a big 2-run home run for the Chupacabras in the bottom of the third inning. With Canovanas leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from Ewan Mackenzie, who finished 2nd in the LB in innings pitched with 397.0 in 1907, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Chupacabras on top, 3-0.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Maunabo manager Ruairí Graves.
The win gives the Chupacabras a record of 38-89.
