The Penuelas Guiristas, despite a fine performance by Guayanilla pitcher José Adame, grabbed a 3-2 win at Parque Municipal Édgar Cabrera. Adame allowed 2 runs over 8.2 innings. The win was credited to 28-year old left-handed pitcher Heriberto Sánchez in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Domingo Santamaría took the loss. The win gives Penuelas a record of 10-9.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Juan Carlos Díaz came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Guayanilla pitcher Domingo Santamaría, he hit a full count sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Penuelas on top, 3-2.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Dane Fawcett, the Penuelas skipper. "This one tested us."
