Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Barceloneta Marineros home opener. Keegan Daly started for the home team against Solón Balcazar for the Ponce Senores. The Marineros were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 3-2, Ponce, in 10 innings. Solón Balcazar, though, was impressive. The winning pitcher was Balcazar, now 1-0. He tossed 9.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. Héctor Espinosa notched his 1st save of the season.
Luis Deida had a direct impact on the outcome. Deida contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Ponce up, 3-2.
Balcazar said his team "played with focus and determination."
