The skies opened up and the rain fell at Coliseo Miguel Flores.
In a low-scoring contest between the Utuado Arribenos and the Anasco Matadioses, Plácido Polanco, who is tied for 9th in the LH in wins with 19, proved to be the difference. The Utuado right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Arribenos win. Polanco, who finished 2nd in the LH in ERA with 1.43 in 1903, went the distance for Utuado. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits.
Quirino Ochoa drove in one run for Utuado. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Ochoa had a clutch at-bat. Facing Anasco hurler Premislao Tijerina, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Arribenos a 3-2 lead.
"I like the makeup of this team," said Arribenos manager Louis Gutteridge.
The Arribenos raised their record to 91-45.
