3-1 Win Makes It 7 Straight for Cerros
|
Jayuya pitcher Vidal Escalante did his part in helping his team beat the Rincon Ingenieros, 3-1. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Escalante, now 10-17. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 2. Fernando Serafín recorded his 15th save for Jayuya.
Luis Álvarez went 2-3 with a double and a walk for Jayuya. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Álvarez had a clutch at-bat. Facing Rincon hurler Julián Loya, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Cerros a 2-1 lead.
"We won," Escalante told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
The third-place Ingenieros now sit at 63-71.
