Villalba starter Aristodemo Rodríguez pitched well against the Rincon Ingenieros at Coliseo Hermógenes Cárdenas. The right-hander led his team to a win, 9-3. The third-place Mercaderes now have a win-loss record of 65-74.

Villalba used the clutch hitting of Arthur Coates to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Mercaderes the lead, 6-3. For the game, Coates had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"There's a lot in this game you can't control. Just take what the game gives you. I was just doing my best to help the team win," Coates told the Villalba Chronicle.
