Romeros Fall to Combatientes Late
|
The Cabo Rojo Combatientes topped the Hormigueros Romeros, 2-1, in Liga Betances action at Estadio Juan Rodríguez. The standout performance belonged to Cabo Rojo pitcher and Caguas, Puerto Rico, native Alberto Lozano. Lozano, who led the LB in innings pitched with 425.1 in 1910, went the distance for Cabo Rojo. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. Cabo Rojo, at 72-69, holds down first place in the Liga Betances Suroeste.
Alberto Medina, who is tied for 7th in the LB with a .316 batting average, helped out the Cabo Rojo cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 2.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Medina told the Cabo Rojo Times.
