The rain did not keep Barranquitas and Naranjito from finishing their game.
The Barranquitas Ilustres locked up a win at Estadio Felipe Esquibel, knocking off the Naranjito Brillantes, 3-1. On the mound for Barranquitas was left-hander Gerardo Martínez. He played a major role in the triumph. The winner was Martínez. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Eugenio Franco.
Barranquitas used a timely hit from Anvar Kulov to get the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Ilustres ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager Adán Calles.
The Ilustres saw their win-loss record go to 68-73. At the same time, the Brillantes fell to 53-86.
