August's Best Hurler in LH is Alvarado Monday, September 1st , 1913 An outstanding 6-1 record in August earned Basilio Alvarado the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Liga Hostos. When his name was penciled in to start on the Aibonito lineup card, it meant trouble for opposing teams. In 62 innings of work, Alvarado limited opposing batters to 38 base hits and a .177 batting average. He notched 35 strikeouts, issued 17 walks and had a 1.02 ERA. For the season, Alvarado has compiled a 14-14 record with a 2.69 ERA. |
