Naranjito Halts Cuéllar's Hitting Steak Thursday, October 2nd , 1913 All good things must come to an end -- and so it was today for Duarte Cuéllar as he saw his 20-game hitting streak end. He went hitless in 3 at-bats at the hands of the Naranjito Brillantes. It wasn't all bad for the 31-year-old left fielder and the Corozal Mofongueros however, as they defeated Naranjito, 14-0, at Estadio Felipe Esquibel. When asked about his hitting streak, a smiling Cuéllar laughed and said, "I guess my luck ran out today." This season, Cuéllar is batting .282 with 163 hits and 5 home runs. He has scored 91 times and has 62 runs batted in. |
