Rivera Tosses 1-0 Shutout Against Canovanas Wednesday, October 8th , 1913 Before the game, Juan Rivera said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Recinto Ramón Araujo, the Guiristas pitcher blanked the Canovanas Chupacabras, 1-0. "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Rivera said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my changeup even when I was behind in the count." The Penuelas starter held Canovanas scoreless, giving up 4 hits while registering 2 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks. "We didn't have very many good at-bats," Chupacabras manager Héctor Martínez said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
