Palomas Clinch Wild Card Friday, October 10th , 1913 The Cidra Palomas don't see themselves as underdogs or long shots to win the Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño. It may have been only a wild card berth the team was celebrating, as opposed to an Liga Betances Cordillera Este crown, but that didn't damper the optimism. "I think we're one of the best teams in this league and when it counts, I know we can be the best," said starting pitcher Cleto Jiménez. "No one is going to remember the team that had the best regular season record. They are going to remember the Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño champions and we believe that's going to be us." The Palomas have a 95-68 record and will be looking to win the 1st Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño in team history. |
