Chávez Sends Catano Bats to Deep Freeze Friday, October 10th , 1913 Ramón Chávez pitched a strong game at Estadio Getulio Moreno, blanking the Catano Guardacostas, 3-0. Chávez, who led the LB in innings pitched with 413.0 in 1905, allowed no runs on 2 hits, totaled 3 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks. Luquillo manager Dan Bond said he could tell immediately it was going to be a good game for Chávez. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," Bond said. "He threw a lot of strikes." So far this year, Chávez has made 43 starts, tossed 358.2 innings, struck out 185 batters and walked 104.
