Pitcher at His Best, Blanks Morovis
Friday, October 17th , 1913
Before the game, Bob Pitcher said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Coliseo Homero Contreras, the Murcielagos pitcher blanked the Morovis Sanisalvos, 7-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Pitcher said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my sinker even when I was behind in the count."
The Camuy starter held Morovis scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 2 strikeouts and issuing no walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Sanisalvos manager Nereo Villanueva said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
This year, Pitcher has gone 15-11 with an ERA of 3.01 and has 80 strikeouts in 230 innings.
