Palomas Advance to Serie Eliminatoria Sunday, October 26th , 1913 The Cidra Palomas are heading to the Serie Eliminatoria, having narrowly defeated the Camuy Murcielagos. Cidra edged Camuy in the series 3-2, with a win at Estadio Víctor Nieves in the clinching game by a 9-1 margin. Garm Gijsbers turned in a strong offensive performance for the Palomas and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Gijsbers continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .417 with a .462 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 4 RBI and scored 6 runs. The Cidra Palomas will play against the Maricao Cafeteros in the next round. Maricao won their series against the Guaynabo Libertadores 3 games to 0.
