Drill Announces Retirement Tuesday, August 12th , 1913 The manager of the Cleveland Spiders said the sport will be losing one of its "truly great leaders" at the end of the year. That's because 36-year-old Lew Drill has decided to retire at year's end. "This is the type of guy you want on your team," the manager said. "He does everything the right way and leads by example. Our organization will miss him." Drill's all-time stats include: 353 hits, 42 doubles, 20 triples, 1 home run and 140 RBIs in 647 games. He is batting .228 with 43 stolen bases and has scored 152 runs. |
