Medina Pitches Gem as Mammoths Beat El Paso, 2-0 Saturday, August 23rd , 1913 Magic was in the air and on the mound at Finos Park, as Juan Medina held the El Paso Finos spellbound in his 2-0 shutout victory. The Waco Mammoths pitcher went the distance, rang up 5 strikeouts, walked 3, and held the Finos to 3 hits. "He just had us in his thrall," El Paso manager Acasto Basto said. "We couldn't put anything together against him." Thus far this season, Medina has posted a 14-11 record, started 29 games, struck out 130 batters in 209.2 innings and compiled a 3.05 ERA.
