Bangor Shuts Out Elms, García Winner Thursday, August 14th , 1913 Serafín García was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Bangor River Hogs hurler tossed a 3-hit, complete game shutout against the Waterville Elms. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said García. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." García walked 3 and struck out 7 in the 9-0 victory. This year, García has posted a 9-12 mark in 23 starts and has a 3.62 ERA.
