Oshawa Shuts Out Roughnecks, Leray Winner
Thursday, September 18th , 1913
In a seemingly effortless performance, Thierry Leray of the Oshawa Engines shot down the Sarnia Roughnecks, 1-0, on 6 hits.
"Thierry was just locating so well and using his pitches," Oshawa manager Santiago Tapia said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
Leray recorded 3 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Sarnia manager Tricky Nichols said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
This year, Leray has posted a record of 9 wins and 10 losses with a 4.14 ERA. He has appeared in 24 games and struck out 104 in 152.1 innings.
