Cortez Collects Hit Number 1000 Friday, September 19th , 1913 Roberto Cortez, welcome to the club -- the 1000-hit club. The Utica right fielder gained membership in that elite group in a 16-3 victory over the Syracuse Halites at Salt City Park. 3 hits in 5 at-bats today enabled the Half Moons star to reach the milestone.
