Marquette Narrowly Wins Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Superior Saturday, September 20th , 1913 Fans of the Marquette Smelters can breathe a sigh of relief - the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Superior is now clinched. The postseason race came down to the final days of the season, but in the end Marquette has outlasted division rivals to claim the top spot, for the 8th time in franchise history. "We want to bring the 3rd Championship of the Great Lakes to Marquette. For our fans, our players, our coaches, our city, that's what it's all about," said an excited Absalón Músquez. The closer went on to say that no matter who his team is up against, he considers them favorites. "I like our chances," he said. "We've got a lot of confidence right now." |
