EGLA Pick for Top Pitcher in September is Chávez Wednesday, October 1st , 1913 Last month's cream of the crop on the mound was Modesto Chávez of the Meadville Zips. He captured the Eastern Great Lakes Association Pitcher of the Month award for his outstanding performance in September. Chávez started 4 games, threw 36 innings, yielded 32 hits and logged a 4-0 record. He put down 29 batters on strikes, walked 12 and compiled a 2.25 ERA. Opposing teams batted .234 against him. On his stats sheet for the year Chávez shows a 22-14 record, 32 starts, 295 innings, 241 strikeouts and a 2.53 ERA. |
