Saginaw Wins Pennant Series Tuesday, October 7th , 1913 The Saginaw Joes are riding high after knocking off the Marquette Smelters in the Pennant Series. "We're feeling confident now and that's half the battle," said Carlos Alfaro, who was named series MVP. "You play confidently, you play well and it shows up with results like this." Saginaw won the final game by a 5-0 count at Old Growth Forest and the series 4-2. For the series, Alfaro hit .370 with a .393 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Saginaw Joes don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Syracuse Halites - Mentor Rose Stockings series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece.
