Pepinos Lose Contest, 4-1

Culebra pitcher Boanerges Alvarado did his part in helping his team defeat the San Sebastian Pepinos, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Alvarado, now 12-18, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Premislao Soriano nailed down his 20th save.
Culebra used a well-timed hit by Julio Orellana to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Tortugas ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Orellana.
The win puts the Tortugas at 54-95, while the Pepinos drop to 84-60.
