Culebra Still On the Schneid After 5-3 Loss to Tumbabrazos
|
The Carolina Tumbabrazos and Culebra Tortugas completed their game despite the rain.
Tumbabrazos shortstop Héctor Peres put his stamp on his team's 5-3 win over the Culebra Tortugas. Peres was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for Carolina in the contest. Alfonso López picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-4 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 2 in 6.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Brian Low earned the save for Carolina.
Peres contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Carolina in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Peres took a cutter from Pirro Arias and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Tumbabrazos to leap in front, 3-2.
"Job one," said Peres, "is get the job done."
The second-place Tumbabrazos lifted their record to 19-19.
