Grand Marais and Sault St. Marie took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

The Grand Marais Voyageurs topped the Sault St. Marie Rapids, 6-4, in Western Great Lakes Association action at Rapids Park, But Better. The standout performance belonged to Grand Marais pitcher and Havana, Cuba, native Luis Zacarías. Zacarías went the distance for Grand Marais. He gave up 4 runs on 13 hits.

Grand Marais used a clutch at-bat from Bob Tennant to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Voyageurs ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Zacarías told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."

The Voyageurs raised their record to 5-1.
